Welcome to the blog! This is where I'll post photos I do just for fun, and where you'll find the sneak peeks from your photoshoots! You are welcome to share the link to the blog in email and social media - even tag people you specifically want to share photos with!
Usually when I shoot carnival rides, I use the same technique that most other photographers use - a tripod and a slow shutter to get the motion blur effect like this:
But doing the same thing year after year got boring, and so this year, I decided to change it up a little bit! This year, I tried two different ways to get a new perspective on the rides - this time, I use a slow shutter speed, and the tripod, but zoomed in and out on the telephoto lens to get these fun effects!
As much as I loved the effect I got using the slow shutter while zooming technique, I still got bored after awhile with it. So then I busted out my shiny new crystal ball, and decided to find out how the fair would look when seen through the ball... as a result, I got these cool photos!
Definitely looking forward to trying these two new ways of shooting the fair in the future!
This past weekend the sun was finally shining and it was warm enough to venture outside for some fun Urbex Photography! I hadn't been out to do this type of photography in forever, but now I think I may make it a more regular thing! This particular location had it's humble beginnings as a farm. Eventually the sprawling lands were donated to the Ontario Gov't and a school was built on the grounds for delinquent boys which opened in the late 1920's.
During WWII though, the gov't suddenly found itself in need of a place to house it's Prisoners of War, and so, the school became a POW Camp in 1941, which was known as Camp 30. Research regarding the area and camp indicates that this was one of the nicest camps given their fine menu, and the prisoner's ability to use the swimming, gym and theater facilities on the grounds. In fact, the camp was so lax that the prisoners were allowed to come and go of their own accord at times to swim down at the lake, or to cross country ski - all on their word on honor to the guards that they would return!
After the war ended, the grounds eventually reverted back to being used as a school, and the buildings were in use until 2008. Now abandoned, the buildings have fallen victim to a great deal of vandalism and even a fire over the years which have caused a great deal of perhaps irreparable damage to many areas. There was a plan to demo the buildings and build new housing on the property but the plan was canceled in 2013 when the area was declared a National Historic Site.
For more information on Camp 30 and is amazing history, check out the reference link below! The information provided is but a brief summation of the rich history of the location!
Yesterday we watched a surfing contest out in Wainaie, Oahu - it was amazing to see! I'd never seen surfing at all, and was really impressed with how easy they all made it seem!! There are some great shots from the event which I'll link to shortly, but first, I wanted to ask you all to pls help me tofind this man and this little girl! I don't think they were part of the contest - rather, I think he was teaching the little girl how to surf. We watched them take on wave after wave for over an hour, and the little girl was incredible!
Check out the look on her face in the shot below - nothing but sheer determination!! I didn't notice til we got back home that the man (perhaps her father?) had a GoPro Camera in his mouth - maybe he was shooting video from his perspective as they went? Not sure, but either way, I'd sure love to find them to get a copy of this shot to them!! Maybe the little girl might also like to have it one day when she grows up - especially if that is her dad or another family member in the shot?
So I'm asking everyone to pls help me find them! Like this, and share it to your social media pages! If enough people see and share it, maybe we can find out who I can send this to? If you know who this is pls have them contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org

Have you ever been to the Toronto Zombie Walk? I managed to make it out there today for the annual event, and below are some of the photos of some of the cool zombies I saw out there!! My 7 year old *really* wanted me to bring him to this event, but I'm glad I didn't. While there were lots of young kids there, I just know my own little fella would have nightmares for weeks!! Special thanks to the organizers of this fun event and to the zombies for making it so awesome!
This young lady was soooo much fun to capture! Her beauty shone through in absolutely every shot - in fact, it was hard for me to pick just the top few from the session to share here!! I won't bore you with a lot of words, no need.... Rachel's photos and brilliant personality speak for themselves!!
